Opening ceremony

The opening ceremony was marked by a speech by the representative of the Executive Secretary of CNEDD, Colonel Maida Hadou, who in his speech first thanked the participants for having responded to this invitation from the Executive Secretariat of the CNEDD, he recalled the objective of the workshop, he then invited the participants to be more involved in order to achieve the objectives assigned to this workshop.

Course of the workshop:

DAY 1

The first day of the workshop was marked by a series of presentations:

Theme 1: “CHM and the Global Biodiversity Framework (GMB)”; presented by Mr. Maman Sani Issaka; during this presentation, Mr. Maman Sani presented the new global framework for biological diversity in connection with the mechanism for the exchange of information on biological diversity (CHM).

Theme 2: “National strategy and action plan for the exchange of information on biodiversity in Niger (2020-2030)”, presented by Colonel Maida Hadou, during this presentation, the benefits of biodiversity and the methodology used for the revision of the CHM strategy were recalled at first glance.

Theme 3: “Biodiversity Information Exchange Strategy Action Plan” presented by Mr. Maman Sani Issaka. Theme 4: “The different data sharing systems” presented by Mr. Maman Sani Issaka.

DAY 2

During this second day, presentations continued based on practical cases.

Theme 5: “Use of social networks to boost the site of the Information Exchange Mechanism on Biological Diversity” presented by Mr. Moumouni Guingarey.

5.1: Communicate with the community on Facebook: At this level, the trainer showed the participants the process of creating and setting up a professional Facebook page. The key point to remember at this level is the activation of professional mode (see Edit Profile).

5.2: Communicating with the community on an Instagram business account: During this presentation, participants learned how to use Instagram to generate interest through:

5.3: Communicate with the community on WhatsApp: The objective of this communication is to show the competitive advantage of WhatsApp Business.

5.4. Communicating with the community on YouTube: at this level, the aim is to show participants how to create a YouTube channel. During this demonstration, the trainer emphasized that Youtube is a global database of videos, it can be used to highlight the activities of an institution by having a personalized channel. To do this, all you need is a Google account.

DAY 3

The third day was devoted to training on the CHM Niger site. The trainer first explained the content of the home page of the national CHM site, which has seven (7) sections (Home, About, Biodiversity, Implementation, Cooperation, Communication), the link with social media, and emphasized the difference between a user and a manager.

Achieved results

 

  • Holders of data and information on Biological Diversity have been trained on data collection and dissemination tools (Bioland Dart, Facebook Instargram, Whatsapp, YouTube);
  • The strategy for exchanging data and information on biological diversity and its action plan were shared with the participants;
  • Participants know the procedures for publishing and disseminating data and information on the CHM Site.

 

Conclusion

The end of the workshop came to the satisfaction of all the participants who saw the need to associate the CHM site with social differences. They then recommended creating a technical committee according to the sectors to collect and update the Niger CHM on an ongoing basis.
