Agricultural BiodiversityAccess to Genetic Resources and Benefit-sharingBiodiversity for DevelopmentEcosystem RestorationSustainable Use of BiodiversityBiodiversity provides local communities with the resources they need to meet their needs in vital areas such as food and health, to name but a few. Communities have capitalized a significant amount of knowledge and practices that reflect the various ways in which biodiversity is used.
It has certainly been shown that biodiversity is necessary for a balanced diet, but are we aware of this, because nowadays, communities are witnessing very clear transformations that all lead to a loss of dietary and medicinal diversity and the degeneration of their role.
Therefore, the use of biodiversity is an indicator that can have several facets (positive as well as negative) in the face of the issue of conservation and the sustainability of meeting the needs of communities in the medium and long term. Among other things, for these reasons, the use of plant species for food and medicinal purposes was selected in the Niger SNPA/DB as an important indicator.
