The Government of Niger has obtained funding for the PROSAP Project from the Global Environment Fund (GEF) through UNEP. The actions to be developed under this project will aim at the root causes of land degradation and the reduction of biodiversity in Dallol/Bosso and its related areas (namely mainly the poverty of local populations and the growth of inappropriate and uncontrolled practices of exploitation of natural resources). Particular emphasis will be placed on four approaches: (i) strengthening the capacities and understanding of actors to adopt shared management methods; (ii) the adoption of appropriate methodologies and technologies for the sustainable management of soils and natural resources allowing an improvement of living conditions as well as the preservation of the integrity of the ecosystem; (iii) the effective use of management methods that promote soil conservation and restoration and the improvement of living conditions as well That the preservation of the integrity of the ecosystem; (iv) the establishment of a monitoring system based on scientific and local knowledge concerning the evolution of the socio-economic and ecological situation.
